Who is John Steinbeck?

John steinbeck was born in Salinas, California  on February 27, 1902. He attended high school and worked on ranches during his vacations. During 1920 and 1926 he studied marine bilogy while attending Stanford University in Northern California, though he never graduated (in fact, he failed miserably)
Why, remains a mystery. In 1925 he went to N.Y.C where he tried for 3 years to be a free lands writer. Then returned to CA..

Steinbeck's Life as a writer

After publishing some of his writing. Steinbeck became famous with his book tortilla flat. Tortilla flat is a book filled with a bunch of short stories. He the won the california common wealth clubs gold medal. Steinbecks first novel cup of gold, focused on privateteer henry morgan's life and death. The grapes of wrath was written in 1939 and won the pulitzer prize in 1940.



Marriage

John Steinbeck was married three times. His first wifes name was Carol Conger, he met her in 1928 in Tanoe City. With her he had no children. His second wife's name was Gwendoyln Conger, he met her in 1940-1941 and married her in 1943. With her came two children. His third wife's name was Elaine Scott ,he met her in 1959 in New York City in a play production. with her he had no children.                

Children

. Thomas Myles Steinbeck born in 1944, and John Steinbeck Iv born 1946 but sadly died in 1991. Both children born of Carol Conger
